Why do you need a parking cooler?

A driver spends long hours on the road, so it’s important to get proper rest in between. Research has shown that the ideal sleeping temperature is 18 degrees Celsius. If the temperature is too high, you won’t sleep optimally and will wake up less refreshed.

For drivers who need to take their rest periods in their truck — whether at night or during the day — it’s essential to sleep well and wake up rested. This helps them stay fitter and more focused, which increases road safety. In addition, a parking cooler improves comfort inside the truck and reduces fuel costs, making it a very attractive investment.

What is the best brand of parking coolers?

Viesa is the market leader in the field of parking coolers. The VIESA KOMPRESSOR III is their flagship model. This parking cooler is manufactured in Italy using high-quality materials. It operates quietly, takes up minimal interior space, and can even be installed on slanted roofs. Moreover, VIESA parking coolers are energy-efficient and highly reliable.

What is a parking cooler used for?

It’s important to note that a parking cooler is a supplement to a truck’s air-conditioning system. To get the best results, the cab should first be brought to the desired temperature. Want to sleep at 21°C? Then make sure the cab is about 21°C before you switch off the truck’s regular A/C. Once the A/C is off, turn on the parking cooler. Its job is to maintain the temperature.

A parking cooler cannot cool the cab any further; it simply isn’t powerful enough for that.

How does a parking cooler work?

A parking cooler draws warm air from the cab and expels it outside. It then takes in fresh air from outside, cools it to the desired temperature, and blows it back into the cab. A parking cooler always operates independently from the combustion engine — meaning the engine doesn’t have to run while stationary. Parking coolers run entirely on the truck’s batteries.

By using a parking cooler instead of the traditional A/C system (which requires the engine to idle), you can save up to 264 liters of diesel per month!

The video below shows how a parking cooler works.

Better sleep leads to better alertness, which benefits road safety.

Huge savings on fuel costs

A parking cooler can pay for itself in as little as 9 weeks.

Better for the environment

How do I install a parking cooler?

A parking cooler is relatively easy to install on a truck or motorhome. All rooftop coolers come with mounting and installation materials included. They can also be mounted over the truck’s roof hatch. Even on trucks with a slanted roof (such as the Volvo FH5), a rooftop cooler can be installed. The parking cooler must then be connected to the truck’s electrical system.

Many truck workshops have the expertise and tools required to perform this installation. In addition, we can also take care of the installation for you in our own workshops.

Is a parking cooler also suitable for motorhomes?

Parking coolers can also be installed on motorhomes. They are often mounted (just like on trucks) over the top roof window or roof hatch. The electrical connection is usually straightforward as well.

How quickly does a parking cooler pay for itself?

By using a parking cooler, the truck’s engine no longer needs to idle overnight. This saves a significant amount of fuel. Given today’s high fuel prices, a parking cooler pays for itself very quickly. Fill in the calculator below to estimate your payback time!
